Forbes and Money Magazines Name
Hamilton County and Fishers as
Their Top Picks

Hamilton county was recently chosen by
Forbes as the best county in the country
to live and raise a family. The city of
Fishers was also honored by Money as
the 10th best small community in the
nation to call home. Education was a major factor used by Forbes
to rank its 20 best. All counties with average SAT scores under
1,050, ACT scores below 22, or graduation rates under 80% were
eliminated from its ranking process. Continued

GREEN TIP OF THE MONTH

Kill Bugs the Green Way...

Before you get out the bug spray, stop
and think about what all those toxic
chemicals can do to you, your family,
your pets, and the environment. Don't
you wish there was a better way to kill bugs? There is. Boric acid
is not only toxic to insects, but the abrasive crystals also scratch
the exoskeleton of any insect that comes in contact with them,
causing the bug to die of dehydration. Better yet, it is considered
safe for mammals (it's less toxic than table salt) so you can sprink-
le it wherever insects are found. A little boric acid in the back of
cupboards
and closets and under appliances will kill cockroaches,
ants, termites, silverfish, water bugs, and many other insects.
Make ant bait by soaking some cotton balls in a mixture of boric
acid, sugar, and water, and place them in the path of the ants.
You can also dust some boric acid over your carpets to control
fleas. Boric acid can be purchased in most drugstores.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH

Provolone & Pancetta Stuffed
Chicken Breasts

A savory stuffing of provolone
cheese and pancetta gives a
flavor boost to chicken breasts.
Provolone is a cow's milk
cheese from southern Italy that has a firm texture and
mild flavor.
Recipe courtesy of: Albertsons

INGREDIENTS:

1 tsp. plus 1 1/2 cups olive oil
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 garlic cloves, minced
4 egg whites, lightly beaten
1 tbs. minced fresh sage
Salt & freshly ground pepper
3 1/2 cups toasted bread crumbs
3 oz. aged provolone cheese, grated
6 oz. pancetta, cut into 1/4-inch dice
5 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves, each
about 8 oz., pounded 1/2 inch thick

DIRECTIONS:

Create a pocket in each chicken breast: Lay the breast on
a work surface with the pointed end away from you. Insert
a long paring knife in the center of the end closest to you
(the rounded end). Move the knife around to enlarge the
opening, forming a pocket; be careful not to cut through
to the outside of the breast. Then remove the knife. Re-
peat with the remaining chicken breasts. Continued

LATEST BOARD OF REALTOR® STATS REFLECT
CONTINUED REAL ESTATE MARKET WEAKNESS

Statistics just released by the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of
Realtors® (MIBOR) for the 3-month period ending in June verses
the same period 1, 2, and 4 years ago, show double-digit drops in
the number of homes sold and dollar volume. However, average
sale prices have continue to remain reasonably stable (showing
only a 5 percent drop). Recent national statistics have indicated
property devaluations of as much as 30% in some areas of the
country such as Arizona, California, and Florida.

Forbes and Money Magazines Picks...
(continued)

Other data points used by Forbes included: cost of living, home
price, property tax rate as a percentage of median home price,
percentage of homes occupied by owner, per-capita income, air
quality, crime rate and commute time.

Hamilton County toped Forbes list with impressive scores in nine
of its 10 categories. Aside from mediocre air quality, Hamilton
County's eight quaint communities, a terrific school system, a
short commute and low crime cinched their win. Also. Hamilton's
county's average home price of $200,000 was a steal compared
with other top 10 picks such as Marin County in California with a
whopping $901,900 average home value.

Money Magazine noted Fishers (rated 10th best of its 100 picks)
is growing fast, attracting residents who are young (median age:
30) and smart (over 60% have a bachelor's degree or more). It
had the range of pluses common among their top 10, including a
strong economy (lots of life-science companies are moving in),
low home prices ($149,700 for the typical house) and good
schools (that get high rankings in the state).

Money went on to say, although a walkable downtown is still in
the planning stages, transportation is already there: Fishers
started a commuter bus service to downtown Indianapolis and
plans rapid transit via rail in the next two to five years. When
it comes to smart planning and sheer livability, other places
could learn a lot from this little city in the Midwest according
to Money.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH (Continued)

Season the chicken on both sides with salt and pepper. Stuff
each chicken breast with 2 tbs. of the cheese and 1 tbs. of
the pancetta mixture. Set the chicken on a wire rack-lined
baking sheet and freeze for 5 minutes.

Put the flour, egg whites and bread crumbs in separate
breading pans or shallow dishes. Dredge the chicken in the
flour, then dip into the egg whites and coat evenly with the
bread crumbs, pressing so they adhere. Set the chicken on
a wire rack-lined baking sheet and refrigerate 15 minutes.

In a wide pan over high heat, heat the 1 1/2 cups olive oil.
Working in batches, fry the chicken until crisp and browned
underneath, 5 to 6 minutes. Turn the chicken over, reduce
the heat to medium and cook until the chicken is cooked
through, 7 to 8 minutes more, adding more oil to the pan
if needed. Drain the chicken on a paper towel-lined plate.
Transfer to a platter and serve immediately. Serves 5.
