INDIANAPOLIS - GEIST RESERVOIR
Geist Reservoir is located on the northeast side of Indianapolis and is roughly bounded by Fall Creek and Brooks School Roads on the west, 116th and 113th Streets on north, Florida, Olio, North County Line, and Oak- landon Roads on the east, and streets East 96th, 86th, 79th, and Fox Road on the south. (MAP). The reservoir is named after an early 20th century tycoon - Clarence Geist - who ac- quired his fortune through the ownership of country clubs and utilities. Geist bought the Indianapolis Water Company in 1912 and spent the next 20 years purchasing over 5,000 acres of land where the 6.9 billion gallon reservoir is located today.
